Has anyone shipped a car to Aruba from the New York, New Jersey area? I am interested in a reliable company, pricing, timing and any other helpful information. Thank you.

Hi Sali, I just happened to recieve this information yesterday. We're going to do the same thing. You deliver to Newark, NJ $750. US Customs Export and Return Document charge $125. Includes P/U of 20' container load, block and brace the vehicle, delivery to NJ Port for shipping. Next; From Port, NJ to Oranjested, Aruba Freight Charge $2990.00. Doc. Fee $85.00 Sub total $3075.00. Insurance for transportation is .85 per $100.00(min. $35.00 per shipment) IE: value $10,000. cost $85.00 covers total loss or theft. Does not cover scratches or dents. Once in Aruba you need to clear vehicle, pay duties or taxes and unload vehicle from container. Bring gas and reconnect battery to get it started again. The contact is Mike Yost(yost@horncorp.com) Timing and cost depends on how busy they are and the time of year you ship. Usually 5-6 days from when they leave port. You need to be there when container arrives. But check the details with them. Ive checked with several companies and the cost is pretty close. I also have another company that will pick up at you house and take care of everything. Hope this helps. Bart and Linda Barton #31

I've not done it myself, but a friend of mine had some success with this company http://www.a1autotransport.com/ship-car-to-aruba.php Like Wildwind mentioned, the prices are going to be somewhat consistent between companies, although I'm surprised to hear that insurance doesn't cover scratches and dents. My understanding is that all companies that do this have insurance specifically for that purpose. As you can see form the numbers above, the air freight is the real killer as far as the price is concerned.
